# Manage Release Governance and Rollback Decisions

## What This Does

This guide explains how to work with governance checks, gates, and rollback decisions during release control.

## Steps

1. Open `Automation`.
2. Go to `Release Governance`.
3. Review the release checks associated with the release.
4. Open any failed or blocking check first.
5. Review:
   * checkpoint label
   * severity
   * status
   * due date
   * source entity
6. Open related gates if applicable.
7. Confirm whether a decision is required.
8. If a rollback decision exists, open it and review:
   * status
   * reason
   * due date
   * rollback plan
   * execution state
9. Record or update the rollback decision if your role allows it.
10. Continue monitoring until the release is cleared or the rollback decision is finalized.
