# Create a Release Certification Step by Step

## What This Does

This guide explains the detailed steps for creating a release certification and preparing it for approval.

## Before You Begin

Make sure:

* the release already exists
* you know which supporting evidence is required
* the relevant approvers or approval policy are already configured

## Steps

1. Open `Compliance`.
2. Go to `Release Certifications`.
3. Select `Create New`.
4. Choose the release you want to certify.
5. Enter any required certification details.
6. Add comments or context explaining why the release is ready.
7. Attach or link supporting evidence if needed.
8. Save the certification.
9. Open the certification detail page.
10. Review the generated approval records.
11. Confirm that the correct approvers are present.
12. Track the certification until all required approvals are complete.

## What Happens Next

The certification can then move through:

1. pending approval
2. approved or declined decisions
3. final readiness review

## Tips

* Create the certification only when supporting evidence is ready or nearly ready.
* If approvers do not appear as expected, verify the approval policy configuration.
* Use comments to explain exceptions or special approval context.
