Why a Dashboard Metric Looks Empty

What this article helps with

Use this guide when a dashboard tile, chart, score, or summary panel looks blank, zero, or lower than expected.

Common symptoms

  • a metric shows 0, N/A, or an empty chart
  • the dashboard loads but one section has no data
  • one team sees data while another does not
  • the score explanation does not match the number you expected

Most likely causes

  • the active team or organization scope is different from the expected scope
  • the selected date range excludes the relevant records
  • required source data has not been created yet
  • the metric depends on a workflow step that has not happened yet
  • the dashboard is intentionally showing N/A because there is no valid evidence for the score

Steps to troubleshoot

  1. Check the current team or organization context.
  2. Review the dashboard date filters.
  3. Confirm that source records exist for the selected time period.
  4. Open the related list view and compare the filtered record count.
  5. Check whether the metric is team-scoped or organization-scoped.
  6. Confirm whether the metric expects completed work, approvals, test runs, or certifications before it can calculate.
  7. Refresh the page after changing filters.

Tips

  • treat N/A differently from 0
  • compare the dashboard with the related module list view before assuming data loss
  • verify both scope and date range before troubleshooting deeper
